What is GA4?

Most of our clients use Google Analytics to track their website traffic. GA4 is the next step up.

The new system is a combination of machine learning and intelligence, and promises to deliver better quality insights into data, tracking and performance.

GA4 is coming into effect in July next year, but you’re going to be hearing a lot about it from this point on.

Why the rush? We’ve got until next year!

Well, that’s technically true, but it’s not quite that simple. Moving from Google Analytics to GA4 is not a case of just replacing one with the other.

GA4 is a very different machine to Google Analytics and as such, you won’t be able to transfer your old data over to GA4.

Am I going to lose all my data?

No, don’t panic. Although there is no method of import from Universal Analytics to GA4 at the moment, you won’t lose all of that data.

A lot of people will be talking about ‘switching’ over to GA4, which is a bit misleading as the data won’t be switching anywhere.

Switching simply means updating the tracking codes on your website(s) to the new GA4 ones.

Google Analytics will still be accessible after July 2023, therefore all historical data will be saved and not lost.

Once you set up your new GA4 account, it will start collecting data from that moment on.

Is there anything I need to do?

If you are a Laser Red client, then you will be contacted directly by our marketing wizards when your account is being moved, so don’t worry.

If you are not currently a client of ours but want help upgrading to GA4, you can contact our Marketing Team and arrange a call to discuss your needs.

Do I have to move to GA4?

Yes, there’s no way around it – but this is a good thing!

GA4 is a faster, sleeker, more powerful machine which will allow you to get a lot more value out of your data.

How will I know how to use GA4?

Sometimes change is hard, but we will be there to guide you through.

Laser Red will be holding various Bootcamps, video training sessions online, and manuals, to ensure switching over is seamless.

Keep an eye out for dates of our training courses coming soon, and our marketing team will always be on hand to answer any questions you might have about GA4.
